How to
The technique.
- 01
Attach a single handle to a low cable pulley.
- 02
Stand sideways to the machine, grasping the handle with the far hand.
- 03
Keep a slight bend in your elbow and maintain a neutral spine.
- 04
Raise the handle out to the side until your arm is parallel to the floor.
- 05
Focus on leading with your elbow and feeling the contraction in your side deltoid.
Common mistakes
What goes wrong.
- ×Using too much weight, leading to swinging and momentum.
- ×Shrugging shoulders up to your ears, engaging traps instead of delts.
- ×Raising the handle too high, reducing tension on the side delts.
- ×Bending elbow excessively, reducing isolation.
