How to

The technique.

  1. 01

Sit on the floor with knees bent, feet flat or elevated, leaning back slightly.

  2. 02

Hold a medicine ball or dumbbell with both hands in front of your chest.

  3. 03

Keep your core braced and back straight, rotate your torso to one side.

  4. 04

Tap the weight to the floor beside your hip, then rotate to the other side.

  5. 05

Maintain control and a consistent pace throughout the movement.

Common mistakes

What goes wrong.

  • ×Rounding the back, putting stress on the spine.
  • ×Using momentum from the arms, rather than rotating with the core.
  • ×Not controlling the movement, swinging too fast.
  • ×Letting feet lift off the floor if they are meant to be planted.
  • ×Holding breath, reducing core engagement.
